The fourth round of the 2023 Toyota GR Cup championship marks the halfway point of the season with another three rounds to go. This fourth round of the Toyota GR Cup formed part of the larger Extreme Festival National Series with competitors from around the country descending on Aldo Scribante Raceway in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.

Lying third in the championship going into this round, I was determined to score some valuable points in the Toyota GR86 league and open up a gap over the challengers. With the right results, I would even be able to hunt down second place.

Toyota GR Cup Round 4
Motorsports can be a cruel mistress though and the weekend didn't turn out quite as planned. It was Gary Player that was quoted as saying; "The more I practice, the luckier I get." Clearly, the Black Knight has never tried motorsports.

The fifth round of the Toyota GR Cup takes place on 22 July at the East London Grand Prix Circuit, a fast and flowing circuit that is as unforgiving as it is historical.
