Latest Information on Nissan 1400
The Nissan 1400 bakkie, aka Nissan B140, is the predecessor to the Nissan NP200. The small half-tonner was in production for 37 years in Pretoria at the Nissan Rosslyn Plant. It was launched in 1971 with production ending in 2008. It had undergone many changes during its lifespan, some which include an addition of a five-speed manual gearbox, power assisted disc brakes, along with a roof height extension to accommodate taller South Africans. A sport model was also launched as the “Champ” bakkie and featured bucket seats, side striping, a tachometer, and a central handbrake. It was replaced for a bakkie with front-wheel drive (FWD) as the 1400 was rear-wheel drive (RWD).
