On the commercial side, JMC has partnered with the Ford Motor Company since 1997 to produce commercial vehicles. Another joint venture includes that with Changan, Jiangling Motor Holding for passenger cars sold under the Landwind brand. The history of the company dates back to a truck repair shop in Nanchang. The repair shop began business in 1952 under the name Nanchang Motors Repair Factory. In 1993, JMC expanded by entering into a joint venture with Isuzu and Itochu. Through the joint venture, the non-exclusive rights were acquired to build the cab compartment of the N-Series light truck as well as assembling vehicles. Also in 1993, the company was given approval to create a joint stock limited company. Shares were successfully issued on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and JMC were the first listed company in the Jiangxi Province to appear on the stock exchange. JMC is a large player in the Chinese vehicle industry. Their main focus is on commercial vehicles. JMC have also been ranked as one of China’s Top 100 Listed Companies for several consecutive years. JMC hit a record in 2015. Its business indexes displayed a sales revenue of almost 24.5 billion RMB and volume over 257,000 units. JMC has said to be investing heavily in new product development to expand its product line. In South Africa, JMC’s product range consists of mid- and high-end commercial vehicles and dual passenger/cargo vehicles.
