Two wheels make a splash at the Festival of Motoring

This past weekend's automotive shenanigans at the Festival of Motoring were a treat for those that relish all things motoring related. Exhibitors brought their best and there was a lot of car-related stuff to consume.

Closer inspection though revealed that there was actually quite a bit for the two-wheeled aficionados out there. A few motorcycle brands brought out their bikes, as well as a number of suppliers that had items on display. There were even electric motorcycles for those that enjoy a more electrifying experience

Harley Davidson had a lifestyle stand dedicated to everything from Milwaukee. From clothing and riding gear to toys for the young ones and a host of V-Twin goodness, there was something for every member of the family.

Suzuki had the brand new Katana street machine and freshly arrived GSX-R on display as well as a few of the bikes that we have already covered here such as the GSX S1000A and GT variant as well as the legendary Hayabusa for the crowds to fawn over.

Honda brought out a Fireblade and the tough-as-nails Africa Twin, reminding everyone that the Honda Quest Adventure preliminary selection trials are still doing the rounds at dealerships around SA and there is still time to enter.

The highlight of the weekend though was the number of rounds of the Sunbet Kawasaki ZX10 Masters Cup that ran at top speed around the Kyalami circuit. The howl of these machines as they careened around the track was enough to get everyone pumped up. The sheer wall of sound as these bikes sat on the starting line, waiting for the lights to go green, climbing in revs, and then releasing the clutch and pulling away in an ear-shattering roar was truly a sight and sound to behold.

Trevor Westman dominated the weekend taking the track record, fastest lap, and an overall win in the Masters class.

The 2022 rendition of the show was well attended and hopefully, the 2023 version of the show will have more motorcycle manufacturers on board to show off their new bikes and gear.
