The MAN TGS 33.360 is the latest addition to the company’s TGS range, offering a robust and reliable vehicle for operations that require exceptional traction and durability. The "33" in the name signifies its 33,000kg gross vehicle weight, while "6x6" indicates full-time all-wheel drive, making it highly suitable for challenging off-road conditions. The "BB CH" configuration refers to a chassis cab with a straight frame, and the "NN" means it is the compact day cab version.

Built for the harshest conditions

The TGS 33.360 is engineered with a high-mounted chassis and 6x6 axle configuration, complete with differential locks on both the front and rear axles. This, combined with planetary hub reduction axles, enhances traction and drive performance across rugged landscapes. The high ground clearance, steep approach angles, and ramp-friendly chassis geometry all contribute to its off-road prowess.

The design is intricate and detailed, with visible connections and mechanisms against a plain black background, emphasizing the industrial and high-performance nature of the engine.

Powering the TGS is MAN’s proven D20/D26 engine platform, available in three variants: 360hp, 440hp, and 480hp. The TGS 33.360 delivers 365kW of power and 1,800Nm of torque, making it a formidable performer in its class. Customers can also select between single or dual-wheel configurations to suit their specific application.

Versatile and customisable design

One of the standout features of the TGS 33.360 is its adaptability. The truck is equipped with a programmable body interface module (KSM), allowing easy integration of various body configurations. Whether it’s being transformed into a tipper, water bowser, crane truck, or service vehicle, the TGS chassis accommodates a wide array of custom body solutions.

A heavy-duty gearbox-driven power take-off (PTO), suitable for continuous operation, is included to support auxiliary equipment. An optional four-function control module located inside the driver's door allows operators to access functions such as hazard lights and engine start/stop from outside the cab – ideal for equipment-dependent tasks.

Off-road comfort meets safety

Despite its rugged character, the TGS 33.360 also brings comfort and control to the forefront. The ergonomic compact day cab features centrally arranged, non-slip step units, adjustable back-friendly seating, and an interior layout designed with driver convenience in mind. For added flexibility, the co-driver seat can double as a side table, offering more space for downtime during extended operations.

The adjustable steering wheel can be repositioned entirely into a horizontal position when the vehicle is stationary, increasing freedom of movement within the cab. MAN’s SmartSelect control knob and optional OptiView digital mirror replacement system also enhance ease of handling and visibility in off-road scenarios.

Safety is another key focus, with the vehicle equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Braking System (EBS) to ensure stability and control, even in the most demanding environments.

The steering wheel has integrated controls, and the driver's seat is spacious and cushioned. A "no smoking" sign is displayed above the windshield. The large side window and windshield provide a clear view of an outdoor landscape with sandy terrain and greenery.

Durable by design

The TGS 33.360 features a high-strength chassis frame and a three-piece steel bumper designed for durability and cost-effective repairs. In the event of damage, individual bumper sections can be replaced independently, reducing downtime and maintenance costs. The robust build of the chassis frame also meets modern crash safety standards thanks to reinforced cab construction.

Practical investment

Beyond performance and reliability, the new TGS 33.360 offers cost-saving benefits through optimised maintenance intervals and tailor-made service packages. MAN's focus on efficiency is evident in the lightweight design of the driveline components, which helps increase payload capacity without compromising strength or durability.

This launch marks a significant move by MAN to expand its presence in the off-road commercial vehicle segment in South Africa. With its blend of ruggedness, flexibility, and advanced safety, the TGS 33.360 is positioned to meet the growing demands of infrastructure and industrial projects across the region.

As industry requirements continue to evolve, MAN Truck & Bus appears set on delivering solutions that offer not only technical sophistication but also practical value across the full operational lifecycle of its vehicles.
