Iveco Daily 4x4: perfect travel partner

Ever wondered which vehicle is your perfect travel partner? Professional Spanish kiteboarder Núria Gomà i Lleonart has the answer to this question. She reckons that the Iveco Daily 4x4 fits the bill.

Two iconic trips

Núria has embarked on two iconic trips in an Iveco Daily 4x4. In 2021 and 2022, she went on an epic seven-month journey around Europe in a customised Daily van 4x4. Starting in August 2021, the Daily took Núria and her family to the most beautiful places to visit. Naturally, she selected places where she can also practice kitesurfing, a sailing sport created in 1999 as a variant of surfing. That trip lasted some 25 000 km – and the Daily quickly became an invaluable and much-loved travel companion.

Then, this year, she took delivery of a Daily 4x4 Tigrotto. This vehicle made its global debut at last year’s IAA in Hannover. It was one of two Special Edition models drawing on the brand’s DNA that was launched at the exhibition (the other was the Leoncino). The vehicles were built in Italy by one of IVECO’s historic brands, namely OM-Officine Meccaniche.

Unpacking the Tigrotto

The Daily 4x4 Tigrotto Special Edition is inspired by a historic IVECO vehicle produced from 1957 to 1972. This Special Edition draws on core values and styling features of the original Tigrotto. A fearless vehicle, just like the tiger it was named after, the DAILY 4x4 Tigrotto proudly wears its vocation for the world of off-roading.

It features incredible two-tone bodywork, which highlights the vehicle’s robustness. The red colour of the body-on-frame chassis is a hallmark of the original IVECO’s production. The body-coloured dashboard with vintage touches gives the Tigrotto a decidedly high-end image. This will no doubt appeal to the motorhome and recreational markets. The signature of the original Tigrotto on the grille further links the Special Edition vehicle to its roots.

Going places

Núria is truly going places in her very own Tigrotto. She’s changed continents – and, after travelling across Europe in her completely customized Daily van 4x4 last summer, the Spanish professional kiteboarder is undertaking a new and utterly incredible six-month journey with her family. This time, her destination is the Americas.

A long journey to explore the natural wonders of Central and North America has just begun for Nuria and her family, who are driving safely and comfortably aboard the Daily 4x4. This true off-road vehicle ensures versatility, performance and comfort for the family – even on roads off the beaten track.

Following the warm weather, Nuria and her family have just crossed the Mexican border in Tijuana and are headed South to Baja California. They will stay there for a couple of months, following the wind forecasts, enjoying the sun and some of the best kite spots – including those only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle. In addition to kiteboarding, they hope to see grey whales, killer whales and shark whales.

Once they’re done and dusted in Baja, the Daily 4x4 will drive them North, back to the USA, where the Iveco will take them to some of the most impressive natural parks including Yosemite, Yellowstone, Sequoia, and the Grand Canyon.

Daily 4x4: a vintage look and a modern soul

While she’s exploring the Americas, her Daily is bound to attract almost as much attention as her kiteboarding skills. After all, the unique Tigrotto look of Nuria’s van gives the Daily 4x4 even more attitude, accentuating its off-roading vocation.

But it’s not just a good looker. The Daily 4x4 boasts a 3.0-litre, 180 hp Euro VI engine, paired to a Hi-Matic automatic transmission with 16 forward gears and two reverse gears. The Daily 4x4 is also available with a manual transmission with 12 forward speeds and two reverse speeds.

It is equipped with advanced safety systems, such as disc brakes with ABS (anti-lock braking system) and ESP (electronic stability programme). The Daily 4x4 range – which has proved to be exceptionally popular in South Africa – includes vans in 5.5 and 7 t GVM versions, with a payload of up to 4.3 t. In addition, the Daily can be fitted out as a van on versions from 3.5 to 7 t, with loading volumes of up to 19.6 m3. Its wide range of engines offers outputs of up to 210 hp.
