Meet the versatile McCormick D-Max: 4 things you need to know

Modern farming demands versatility. A tractor can no longer afford to be a one-trick pony; it needs to adapt to changing seasons, diverse implements, and gruelling shifts that bleed from day into night. Enter the McCormick D-Max series, a range engineered precisely to be your untiring companion in the field. Sturdy, reliable, yet remarkably simple to operate, the D-Max is the ideal choice for progressive farmers seeking a high-efficiency machine that conquers any farm task with absolute ease.

Recognising that different operations require different structural environments, McCormick offers the D-Max in two distinct setups. The platform version for those prioritising open-air utility and rapid mounting, alternatively, for operators facing harsher elements, the premium cab model serves as a true sanctuary of productivity.

1. All-Weather Comfort and Command

Stepping into the four-post cab configuration reveals an environment carefully designed to minimise operator fatigue. The clever four-post design provides exceptional all-round visibility, giving you an unobstructed view of front-mounted implements and trailing hitches alike. Inside, a comfortable driving position is guaranteed by an air suspension seat and an adjustable steering wheel, allowing you to fine-tune your workspace.

Every control is arranged logically and within easy reach, meaning you can focus your attention on the field rather than searching for levers. On hot summer days, the integrated air conditioning system keeps the environment cool, while an opening roof hatch provides fresh ventilation whenever needed. When pressing deadlines force your operations into the dark, six intense halogen lights slice through the night, ensuring maximum workplace safety and precision.

2. FPT Power Built for Maximum Productivity

Beneath the sleek red bodywork beats a high-performance heart: the Tier 3 FPT NEF 4.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. This powerplant is designed for sustained grunt and maximum fuel efficiency. The series caters to different power requirements with two capable models. The D-Max 115 model delivers a stout 84kW alongside 510 Nm of maximum torque, while its larger sibling, the 125 model, punches out 90kW with a peak torque of 515 Nm.

Power means nothing without endurance, and McCormick has addressed this by fitting both models with a massive 180-litre fuel tank. Standing as the largest fuel capacity in the 90kW engine class, it guarantees long hours of continuous operation, allowing you to finish the job without pausing for costly, time-consuming refuels mid-afternoon.

3. Advanced Transmissions and Tailor-Made Hydraulics

Putting that power to the ground efficiently requires a transmission that fits your specific workflow. The entry-level Speed Four transmission provides a highly reliable mechanical setup featuring four synchronised gears and three ranges with a synchro shuttle, yielding a dependable 12-forward and 12-reverse speed matrix. For those seeking cutting-edge speed management, the XtraShift transmission ups the ante with a three-stage HML powershift that delivers a massive 48 forward and 16 reverse speeds. This premium option features an electrohydraulic power shuttle with response modulation and a de-clutch function, facilitating incredibly smooth, clutch-less gear changes on the move. For precision field operations, an integrated creeper allows the tractor to crawl from a minimum of 0.4 km/h to a transport speed of 40 km/h.

This versatility extends directly to the hydraulic architecture. Out back, a heavy-duty mechanical or electronic rear hitch delivers a staggering 6000 kg of lift capacity, allowing you to lift massive implements without hesitation. Combined with a flexible two-speed PTO (offering 540/1000 or 540/540E rpm) and an optional ground speed PTO, the McCormick D-Max stands fully equipped to power your business forward.

4. The McCormick D-Max: Efficiency, Simplified.

The McCormick D-Max series perfectly balances robust, Tier 3 FPT engine performance with flexible transmission options and a massive 6000 kg lifting capacity. Available in both open platform ROPS and a highly comfortable, high-visibility four-post cab configuration, it gives you the exact tools you need to tackle any agricultural challenge.
