Today, the manufacturer has amplified that legacy, delivering a true technological beast in the Class 9 harvesting segment. Following initial demonstration runs across select regional grain hubs, the highly anticipated Case IH Axial-Flow 9 combine harvester officially made its South African debut at NAMPO Harvest Day 2026.

1. Uncompromising Output: The Muscle Behind the Machine

To move mountains of grain, serious, unyielding power under the hood is non-negotiable. In the newly unleashed AF9 configuration, Case IH utilises the brutal strength of the Cursor 13 engine, churning out a standard 425kW with a blistering maximum output of 474kW. This muscle is channelled directly into a redesigned threshing and separation ecosystem boasting a significantly larger cleaning area and an upgraded high-capacity fan system. The single-rotor architecture ensures that even in tough, high-yielding, or damp crop conditions, the straw passes smoothly while catching every threshed ear, resulting in incredibly low grain cracking rates.

2. Intelligent Efficiency: Harvest Command Automation

Raw power means very little if a machine cannot adapt to the field's erratic nature. Case IH answers this challenge by transforming the cockpit into a self-adjusting command centre through its industry-leading Harvest Command automation system. Utilising a complex network of advanced sensors hidden throughout the combine, the machine constantly reads the ground, monitoring everything from grain loss to engine load in real time. Rather than relying entirely on driver intervention, the system automatically alters rotor speed, cage vane angles, cleaning fan speed, and sieve positions on the fly to maximise total throughput and target absolute grain purity.

3. Logistics Accelerated: Blistering Unload Dynamics

One of the most perennial and costly bottlenecks during peak season is time spent idling at the headlands waiting for a bin to clear. Case IH has engineered this delay entirely out of the equation with a colossal 16,000-liter grain tank, allowing operators to run longer, deeper passes down the field without interruption. When the grain cart pulls alongside, the high-capacity unloading system moves material at a staggering 160 Liters per second, emptying a full tank in just about 100 seconds. The setup includes standard cross-auger shut-off and adjustable unloading speeds, giving the operator complete control to top off carts precisely without spilling a single kernel.

4. Protecting the Foundation: Next-Gen Compaction Control

Spreading immense weight across vulnerable agricultural soils requires forward-thinking engineering. To mitigate soil damage, the flagship Class 9 units can be optioned with the innovative ActiveTrac four-roller, hydraulically suspended track system. This design expands the machine's footprint by 14 per cent compared to traditional fixed-track models. Sensors embedded within the track cylinders continuously monitor field conditions and grain tank weight, dynamically adjusting to ensure uniform flotation throughout the day and protect soil aeration and structure for next season’s planting.

5. A First-Class Office in the Field

Long harvesting windows demand a workspace that actively mitigates fatigue. The refined cabin layout introduces the Pro 1200 Dual Displays, providing anti-glare, high-definition clarity right at the driver's fingertips. Operators can easily run guidance mapping on one screen while monitoring real-time grain quality imaging on the other. With subscription-free connectivity and integration into the rebranded FieldOps data management platform, this data syncs seamlessly with remote farm managers. Combined with 360-degree LED lighting arrays, enhanced climate control, and optional massaging seats, Case IH has built a mobile office that honours the operator as much as the harvest itself.
