6 Things you need to know about the new E-Kubota tractor
With tough economic circumstances affecting the world over it is difficult for farmers to fork out large amounts of money for tractors. Many tractor manufacturers have devoted engineering resources to developing low-cost offerings and Kubota has just released their latest budget friendly tractor, the E-Kubota.
1. It remains functional
The E-Kubota range is designed for all general farm applications, including haulage, ground engaging and spray work. Kubota partnered with Escorts Ltd, a major Indian leading engineering conglomerate to develop a low-cost tractor. The tractors sold in South Africa are manufactured at Escorts' facility in the Indian state of Haryana and are exclusively through Kubota’s dealer network throughout South Africa. The tractors sold in Eastern Europe are manufactured in Escorts' plant in Poland.
2. Options
There are 10 models available which include five general purpose offerings and five Pro series models. These range from 45hp, four-cylinder 2WD tractor for general-purpose farm work, to a heavy-duty 88hp, four-cylinder 4WD shuttle tractor to tackle more demanding tasks.
3. The general purpose offerings
The general purpose E-Kubota range of tractors feature a 4 Cylinder, double clutch, turbo charged, intercooler engine with direct injection. They also make use of a constant mesh transmission with eight forward and two reverse speeds as well as hydrostatic steering. All models feature a 60-litre fuel tank and a lift capacity of 1 500kg.
4. The Pro series
As mentioned the Pro Series E-Kubota has been specifically designed to deal with more demanding tasks, as such, this tractor features an uprated four cylinder engine with power steering, and uses the double clutch synchro mesh transmission system but with 12 forward and 12 reverse speeds. The Pro Series models have a lift capacity of between 2 500kg and 3 000kg at the lower link end. The power steering has been designed to reduce operator fatigue during long working hours.
The Pro Series ranges from between 74.5hp to 88hp with 60 or 100-litre fuel tanks and are also available in 2WD and 4WD configuration. They also feature smart lift technology for quick lifting and lowering of implements.
5. Other features
It is also worth mentioning that the E-Kubota models are all fitted with multi-disc, oil-immersed brakes, which makes braking with heavy loads more efficient, which improves the overall brake lifespan. Kubota has also fitted front nose weights, rear-wheel weights and a steel canopy as standard for the South African market.
