Looking to sell your Jeep Renegade? Find out what you can get for it.
The Renegade is the smallest SUV in the Jeep stable, and is also one of the safest and most capable compact SUVs around. Since its launch in May 2015, the local Renegade was available with standard features such as Forward Collision Mitigation (auto-stopping if it detects a crash is imminent) and 6 airbags, and could even be specced with adaptive cruise control.

Initial pricing for the Renegade was on the expensive side, but prices were dropped at the end of 2015, and good pre-loved models can be had at a price that won't make you wince. So, if you were to sell your Renegade, how much would you be able to get for it? But, before we can answer this question, let's first find out the difference between retail value, book value, and market value.
What is retail value?
The retail value is what a car would sell for if you were to buy it from a dealership. The retail price is also closest to how much it would cost you if you were to replace your car.
What is trade-in value?
The trade or book value represents the average price that a dealership would pay for your Jeep Renegade, in other words, the minimum amount of money you'll be getting in your pocket.
What is market value?
The market value is mostly lower than the retail value and is influenced by a number of variables, including kilometres on the odo, your car's condition, its service history and whether it's been involved in an accident. Things like demand and even colour also play a role, and that is why it's so difficult to pinpoint the exact market value if you don't have all the relevant information.
If you were to sell your Renegade privately, the market value would be the price that you could likely sell it for, and that is why so many people rather opt for selling their car privately, despite all the hassle that it entails. Use AutoTrader's What's it Worth valuation tool
To find out what the average selling price of the Jeep Renegade is on AutoTrader, we used AutoTrader's What's it Worth tool. This information is based on the brand, model, and year.
Should I rather sell privately?
If you sell your Renegade privately, you can expect to get roughly 10 - 25 percent more money than you would if you were to sell to a dealership, depending on the condition, popularity, and history of your car. You can also sell your car privately on AutoTrader, which is, essentially, the best of both worlds.
If you don't want to go to the trouble of selling your Renegade privately, our advice would be to:
1. Research the car’s current trade and retail value by visiting AutoTrader and checking what similar models are selling for. Many dealers use AutoTrader to get an idea of what a car’s current value is, because we have such a wide reach in the South African market.
2. Consult a number of dealerships to see who offers you the highest price and sell your car to them for cash, instead of trading in on a new, more expensive vehicle. Once you have the cash in hand, you'll be in a much better position to bargain.
