What is covered under Mitsubishi Outlander manufacturer car warranty?
The current iteration of the Mitsubishi Outlander made its way to South Africa in 2017. The seven-seater is offered in one derivative only, the Outlander 2.4 GLS. We take a closer look at what is covered under the manufacturer car warranty of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
The Mitsubishi Outlander comes fitted with a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled to a 5-step CVT transmission. The combination is capable of 123 kW and 222 Nm of torque. Although acceleration and top speed are a little less important in vehicles such as the Outlander, fuel consumption remains relevant. In the case of the Outlander, Mitsubishi says it should achieve an average fuel consumption of 8.2 L / 100 km.
Safety is also a main focal point on the Outlander as systems such as ABS brakes, Electronic Brake Assist, Hill-start Assist, Traction and Stability control are all present. Furthermore, the Japanese automaker installs no less than seven airbags to the interior. Now that we know a little more about the Outlander, let us take a look at the warranty.
Warranty
The Mitsubishi Outlander is sold with a 3-year / 100 000km warranty. Customers can also opt for an extended 'Bumper2Bumper' warranty which takes effect after the original warranty has expired and remains in place for 2-years / unlimited-distance. Owners should note that all the warranties will only remain in place if the vehicle is serviced at a Mitsubishi centre according to the service schedule.
Service plan
Included in the price of your new Mitsubishi Outlander is a 5-year / 90 000km service plan. Owners are expected to service their vehicle every 15 000km or every year, whichever occurs first.
Covered
The warranty is in place to protect the owner from having to replace components that suffer from defects in materials or workmanship at the time of delivery. If the owner notices any changes in performance, faulty components or systems or even notice a noise they have never heard before, they should consult an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or authorized service centre immediately.
Exclusions
Owners should note that there are parts on all vehicles that wear more than the rest with the use of the vehicle. Typically these components will fall outside of the warranty coverage as the wear and tear are greatly affected by the driving conditions and driver inputs. There are also small maintenance duties involved when owning a vehicle such as maintaining the correct oil and coolant levels.
Here are the typical items that will not be covered under the warranty:
- Battery
- Tyres
- Shock absorbers
- Clutch plates
- Brake pads
- Any damage as a result of collision, fire, theft, freezing, vandalism, riot, explosion, or objects striking the vehicle.
- Any damage as a result of misusing your vehicle, such as but not limited to, driving over curbs, overloading, racing, or using your Vehicle as a stationary power source.
- Any third party aftermarket components or alterations made to the body, chassis, braking system, software programming or other components.
- Tampering with, or alteration of the emission control system or other parts that affect these systems.
- Disconnecting or altering the odometer, where the actual mileage cannot be determined
- Use of contaminated or improper fuel, fluids or lubricants
- Damage due to customer-applied chemicals such as abrasive waxes, polishes, sealants, etc.
