What is covered under Ford Mustang manufacturer car warranty?

We take a look at the Ford Mustangs manufacturer warranty.

As part of the FordProtect plan, Ford South Africa offers a 4 year / 120 000km warranty on all Ford products sold. Ford also offers a 6 year / 90 000km service plan with 20 000km service intervals on the Mustang. You will also get the 5 year / Unlimited Km Corrosion protection and 3 Year / Unlimited Km Road side assistance plan.

Ford SA will cover your Mustang against defects in materials and construction as well as mechanical defects for the period of the warranty cover as long as the maintenance schedule is adhered to and there is no breach of the exclusions.

The Mustang's warranty is pretty comprehensive but there are some exclusions in place.

What is NOT covered by Ford warranty?

  •     Damage caused by misuse or accidents.
  •     Damage caused by alteration or modification. (Unless covered by specific Ford Performance warranty)
  •     Normal wear and tear, parts and labour for regular maintenance: oil changes, tire rotation, cleaning/polishing, etc.
  •     Damaged caused by the environment.
  •     Tyre wear or damage under normal operation.

 

The following is NOT covered in the Service Plan:

  • Non-scheduled Maintenance and repairs
  • Internal and external trim, body work and paint that arises due to normal wear and tear.
  • All glass, tyres, wheels, wheel alignment, accessories, electrical wiring components
  • Additional maintenance that may be required as a result of the vehicle being operated in severe or unusual conditions.
  • Additional maintenance that may be required as a result of any modification made to the vehicle.
  • Additional maintenance that may be required as a result of:
  • Accident, damage ,abuse or misuse or consequential damage as a result of such an action.
  • Failure to use the vehicle in accordance with the instruction contained in the owners handbook
  • Failure to ensure that the vehicle is properly, regularly and punctually serviced in accordance with the instruction and recommendations specified by Ford in the owners handbook.
  • The vehicle being serviced by persons other than an authorised Ford Dealer.
  • Fitment of non-genuine Ford parts.
  • Any repairs required as a result of continued operation of the vehicle once a defect has occurred. (including loss of lubricants and coolants)
  • Any consequential loss, damage or liability incurred as a result of a mechanical failure (including personal liability).
  • Costs covered by any other warranty or entitlement including the manufacturers warranty or
  • Any scheduled servicing where we have not provided our prior authority.
