What is covered under Alfa Romeo Giulia manufacturer car warranty?
The Alfa Romeo Giulia made headlines when it first made its local debut during 2017. While the Italian marque has added a few new derivatives since then, the same manufacturer warranty applies. But what exactly is covered under your Alfa Romeo Giulia manufacturer car warranty? Let us take a look.
The Alfa Romeo Giulia didn't just impress the public upon its arrival but rustled the feathers of its closest European rivals. At launch, the Giulia came in a more tame form which offers customers a 2.0-litre, turbocharged petrol motor as well as a performance focussed model which incorporated a 2.9-litre, turbocharged V6 petrol engine, namely the Quadrifoglio.

More recently the firm introduced even more sporty versions of the Giulia named the GTA and GTAm. The GTA is made light by the use of carbon fibre components, however, still retains a rear bench for passengers whereas the GTAm does not. These models are yet to arrive in South Africa at the time of writing this article, so let us focus on the available range.
The warranty
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is sold with a 3-year / 100 000 km warranty which protects the owner against defects and faulty workmanship from the date of sale. This means a faulty component or components will be replaced at no cost to the owner. The customer won't even be responsible for the labour cost. Owners should note that there are exclusions that they will be responsible for.
Customers should also note that cover against body corrosion is limited to body panel perforation only and is valid for 5-years / unlimited-kilometre from the date of sale. This doesn't mean you can go drive on to the beach and through ocean waves which will expose every nook and cranny with saltwater, this kind of use could still void the warranty.
Maintenance plan
Apart from the warranty above, the Giulia is also sold with a 6 year / 100 000 km maintenance plan. These plans are more comprehensive than service plans and will pay for items like brake pads, where a service plan will only pay for the usual service items, like spark plugs, filters and lubricants. You will be required to take your Giulia for a service every 15 000 km or annually. Don't worry, the car will remind you.
Exclusions
Typically one can expect that any item that undergoes wear-and-tear with the operation of the vehicle will be excluded from the warranty Wear-and-tear items include components such as brake discs, brake pads and clutches. Owners will also be responsible for keeping all related fluids topped up and on the correct levels. Although a lot of these components will be inspected and some even replaced as part of the maintenance plan, you won't be able to claim for them under the warranty.
Furthermore, third party items such as the tyres and aftermarket accessories will not be covered under the warranty. Owners should also note that fitting certain aftermarket accessories could not only result in the void of a warranty on particular components but the vehicle's warranty completely voided. Missing or doing out of schedule maintenance at non-approved service centres and non-genuine parts can also result in voided warranties and or maintenance plans.
Recommendation
Drive your vehicle with the care and respect it deserves and be sure to adhere to the maintenance schedule. Check your oil and engine water levels regularly and while under the bonnet, check for any leaks or discolouration that might seem out of the ordinary. If you notice a strange noise or a working light comes up on the dashboard, contact your nearest approved dealership or service centre and schedule an appointment as soon as possible.
