Volkswagen's Amarok premium double cab took a massive leap forward in 2023 when the German brand slipped into a joint venture with Ford to manufacture its luxury utility vehicle. Sharing much of the underpinnings and a load of the tech, the new Amarok would be on par with one of its largest rivals.

This has reinvigorated the double cab segment for the VW brand and they consistently place in the top 5 brands sold each month in the segment. Consumers now have much more confidence in the German UTE as it is seen to be on par with SA favourite, the Ranger. Warning lights are often the first visual alert that a driver will get when something has gone awry with their vehicle, and with the Ranger and Amarok systems being very similar, we wanted to see if the warning lights would be the same. These are the most common lights on a vehicle dashboard and what they refer to when illuminated.
