Jeep Renegade Warranty – what does it cover?

Jeep’s Renegade now comes with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty and a 3-year/100 000 km  Maintenance Plan. We discuss both these peace-of-mind contracts here.

Car Ownership

Jeep’s Renegade is a stylish and engaging smaller SUV, introduced in 2015. The Renegade features some American engineering influence, but is largely Italian in its DNA, being one of the first fruits of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Group that was formally established in 2014, although Fiat had bought a substantial stake in Chrysler in 2010.

The Renegade was recently face-lifted, and currently consists of four models. These are the 1.4T Sport, the 1.4T Longitude, the 1.4T Limited and the 2.4 4X4 Trailhawk. The three 1.4T models use a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine and the 2.4 4X4 Trailhawk uses a 2 360 cc naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine.

Warranty and Maintenance Plan

The Jeep Renegade comes with a 3-year/100 000 km warranty and a 3-year/100 000 km Maintenance Plan. The exception to this is the entry-level model, the 1.4T Sport, where the Maintenance Plan is optional.

The Warranty

The Jeep Renegade is warranted against defects and faulty workmanship for 3 years or 100 000 km from date of sale, whichever event occurs first.
The FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) warranty ensures a comprehensive service of free basic repair or replacement of any defective parts, its labour time and the supply of the necessary consumables for 36 months, starting from the date the car was delivered.

Body corrosion warranty

Warranty against body corrosion is limited to body panel perforation (edge corrosion excluded) for 7 years unlimited mileage on Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

The body warranty can be invalidated if the vehicle or one of its components has been subjected to a hazardous or corrosive environment (viz. industrial fallout, airborne corrosive particles, driving on beaches, salt laden or unsurfaced roads, excessive salt laden environment, or stored and / or parked in bright sunlight, under trees or vegetation that may give rise to staining, paint damage arising from bird droppings or hailstorms, earthquakes, flood damage, or such other damage arising from any act of nature). FCA further states that vehicles parked in coastal areas require frequent hosing down to remove environmental sea salt spray.

The warranty includes:

Original Parts, Roadside Assistance, high-quality repair workmanship and a mobility program.

Maintenance Plan

The Maintenance Plan includes free servicing and any repairs that need to be carried out for a period of 3-years/100 000 km, and covers all costs involved. Like the warranty, this is subject to all work on the car being carried out by an accredited Jeep Dealership service department.

In addition to this maintenance scheme, Jeep offers additional maintenance plans that can be purchased by customers. These include a Premium Care maintenance scheme that covers all serviceable items as well as items like wiper blades, brake pads, brake discs, timing/cam belt or chain, the battery and a clutch kit (an exclusion here is if abuse of the clutch is detected).
