The 3rd Generation Haval H6 is quite the leap since the 2nd generation didn't come to South Africa. Vehicle intelligence is a key feature in offering comfort, safety and performance. Not only this, the current H6 is a looker as well, making a bold statement out on the streets with, as Haval states it, a waistline mimicking an armed archer's bow string. The H6 comes equipped with a high level of safety, with the latest and greatest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which keep you safe and comfortable. The H6 gets dialled up to 11 when you involve the HEV variant with the frugal drivetrain. With the all-rounder feature set and then some, is the H6 expensive to maintain?

Great! But is the Haval H6 expensive to maintain?
After speaking to Haval Fourways, we received some indicative pricing on the H6's servicing costs. The H6 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol engine and there is a hybrid option available. When new, the H6 ICE and HEVvariants come with a 5-year/60 000km service plan and 5 5-year/100 000km warranty. Servicing costs, though, can vary depending on the vehicle's mileage and whether it's a 2WD or 4WD petrol variant or even the HEV:
- 15 000km (First Service) from R2600 for the 2WD and 4WD variants. This service consists of changing the engine oil, air filter and oil filter. The HEV, from R2300, has the same service as the ICE vehicles, excluding the air filter.
- 30 000km from R5500 for the ICE variants. This service consists of changing the air filter, engine oil, oil filter, sparkplugs and pollen filter. With the HEV from R4300, which consists of the same service items as the ICE variants, except here, the spark plugs aren't changed, but there are coolant and brake fluid top-ups.
- 45 000km from R4500 for the ICE variants. With the 4WD variants, the service consists of the usual engine oil and oil filter change, but the transfer case oil and coolant are changed. The 2WD variants don't have the transfer case oil changed because they don't have a transfer case to begin with. With the HEV, the service items are the same as the 30 000km service, and the cost remains from R4300.
- 60 000km from R7600 for the ICE variants. This is considered a major service for both the ICE and HEV variants. The ICE variants receive the same service items as the 30 000km but with the addition of the gearbox oil and brake fluid being changed. The HEV includes about the same service items from the 30 000km with pricing from R6500.
If you plan to service your Haval H6 outside of its service plan, that's more or less what you'll pay. It can be considered one of the more pricier cars to service, but it's a luxury vehicle, and it's typically expected pricing for luxury cars in this segment.
