Despite all the advances in renewable energy and electric vehicles, some actions and tasks still require old-fashioned methods. Cleaning and keeping the windscreen clear on a car is one of those situations. Everything from the Bugatti Chiron to your Nissan Leaf uses a simple washer jet system with water and washer fluid to help clear the windscreen of dirt and debris.
You will need:
- Clean water
- Washer fluid (alternatively, a few drops of dish soap)
- 5-minutes
How to:
1. Park the car and switch it off. Ensure the parking brake is applied.
2. Release the bonnet with the catch mounted by the driver's side door jam.
3. Raise the bonnet and secure using the supplied stay.
4. Locate the washer fluid reservoir cap. It's a grey cap on the front left-hand side of the engine bay.
5. Open the cap.
6. Fill with a mix of water and washer fluid (follow the directions on the washer fluid bottle for dilution ratios).
7. Replace the cap.
8. Close the bonnet.
9. Test the system.
