More power!
The Nissan Leaf may be an all-electric car, but it does still make use of a 12v system that keeps the secondary systems such as the alarm, infotainment and on board computers going. Over time, just as with the main power battery system, the 12v battery will deteriorate and need to be replaced.

Not to fear though as this is a separate system from the large and complex power battery. You can replace this on your own without an expensive visit to your Nissan dealer, and we can show you how it's done.
You will need:
- Replacement Li-Ion battery of correct amperage and size
- 10mm socket and driver or wrench
Before getting started it is highly advisable that you read the owner's maintenance manual thoroughly first and familiarise yourself with the procedure. Disconnecting the battery without a tender will result in the erasure of all infotainment settings and the vehicles onboard trip computer information
Let's get it done
1. Open the bonnet
2. Locate the 12v battery
3. Use the 10mm to remove the negative (-) battery terminal
4. Remove the positive (+) battery terminal
5. Remove the hold-down bracket
6. Exchange the battery
7. Assemble in reverse order
