The Toyota Corolla is one of the longest running marques in the country with well over 40 million cars sold globally. The XR variant is the latest version of this long-standing model and its is still as easy as ever to work on.

Replacing the car battery is an easy enough task to tackle and you won't even need a lot of tools, here is how to do it

 

You will need:

  • Replacement battery of correct amperage and size
  • 10mm socket + driver or wrench
  • 12mm socket

 

Let's get it done

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. Locate the battery 

 

3. Use the 10mm to remove the negative (-) terminal 

 

4. Use the 10mm to remove the positive (+) terminal

 

5. Use the 12mm to remove the hold down bracket

 

6. Exchange battery (Disconnecting the battery without a memory saver will erase all settings in the onboard computer)

 

7. Assemble in reverse order
