How to replace a lightbulb on a Mercedes-Benz S-Class

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has long been the pinnacle of luxury and technology that the brand has to offer. The lighting systems on these vehicles is of particular interest. These systems are highly advanced, offering everything from Infra-red to full LED Matrix setups on the latest models.

This makes undertaking any sort of DIY work incredibly risky and best left to the professionals on later models. If we go back a decade you will find older models that still make use of HID bulbs that can be changed with relative ease, and we can show you how it's done.

 

You will need:

  • Replacement bulbs of the correct temperature range (6000 - 8000W)
  • Soft cloth

 

Let's get it done!

 

1. Open the bonnet

 

2. Locate the back of the headlight cluster

 

3. Remove the cover plate by twisting anti-clockwise

 

4. Depress the holding clip to release the bulb

 

5. Remove the bulb

 

6. Remove high voltage cable

 

7. Exchange the bulb

 

8. Reassemble in reverse order
