Windscreen wipers; often neglected and overlooked when it comes to servicing and maintenance. That is of course until it's too late. You know what we mean. That first rain of the season, that heavy one that catches you out on your way home from work one afternoon. Suddenly your windscreen is a mess of dust and dirt that is slowly turning into a mud that just won't shift. Your wiper blades would be able to clear it for you, if only you had made sure that they were still in a decent condition.
Wiper blades are made up of a rubber and silicone composite which is ideal for clearing your windscreen without doing damage to the glass. The problem is that both rubber and silicone are susceptible to damage from the sun's UV rays. Over time, the flexible components of wiper blades deteriorate, crack and perish, and are no longer effective.
Here's how you can change the wiper blades on your Subaru Impreza WRX (or otherwise) in a matter of minutes.

You will need:
- A new set of wiper blades in the correct length for your model. Most auto spare shops will be able to assist with the size for your model or alternatively, measure the length of your blades (in inches) and select the corresponding size from the retailer of your choosing.
- 5-minutes to spare
How to:
1. Raise your windscreen wiper arms. Sometimes it is easiest to briefly start the wiper motion and stop it when the arms are in the upright position.
2. Rotate the wiper blade assembly 90-degrees on its pivot point.
3. Most early models will have a clip that hooks into a curved section of the wiper arm. Later models will have a square clip and socket arrangement.
4. Pinch the legs of the clip (early models) or depress the small black button clip (newer models) to release the old wiper blade from the arm.
5. Separate the wiper arm from the blade by pushing the wiper blade down on early models and pulling away on newer models. (Early shown)
6. Select the right size clip from the package and follow the instructions on the packaging to see how to clip it onto the wiper blade.
7. Clip the new blade onto the arm in the reverse of the removal process.
8. Wipe down the blades with a rag and test the system.
