If you are considering Bentley's luxury SUV as your next purchase, you will find yourself choosing between hundreds of options on the order form. 1. Sport exhaust
Although not just a local phenomenon, South Africans can't get enough of the sound of a well-engineered motor, and to amplify this, Bentley offers an optional sports exhaust system. The uprated exhaust not only weighs less than a standard arrangement, but it also produces a distinctive sound from either the V8 or W12 engine derivatives. This system, which is constructed using high-grade titanium, was created in conjunction with Akrapovič and consists of link pipes, a muffler, and two sets of oval tailpipes finished in a special coating, and features the Bentley and Akrapovič logos.
The exhaust gas travels through straight pipes instead of a central silencer, and are then further amplified as it gets swirled through internal baffles to ultimately produce a more-exciting aural signature. The driver can turn down the noise with the help of exhaust control valves, which are cast in Akrapovič’s in-house foundry.
2. Relaxation pack
While some might opt to be at the helm of the powerful 4.0-litre, 32-valve dual twin-scroll turbocharged V8 petrol engine or the 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine, others might want to take full advantage of the luxury of travelling in a large Bentley SUV and occupy the rear seats instead. Although the Bentayga is sure to offer a comfortable rear passenger experience even in its "basic" form, customers can purchase an additional relaxation pack which consist of scatter cushions and additional footrests.
The scatter cushions are leather-trimmed, and, similarly to the footrest (which is upholstered in deep pile carpet), are personalised to match the main hide colour used for the interior upholstery as well as the interior carpet colour.
3. Roof box
The Bentayga features a 484-litre boot, which for most uses will prove quite sizable. However, if you need a few extra litres, Bentley offers an optional roof box. The roof box is fitted to branded crossbars, onto which the owner can also mount a variety of accessories as alternatives to the roof box. It is styled to complement the Bentley's shape and design, while offering 320 litres or 75 kilograms of additional storage space. Not only will the roof box provide better aerodynamics than traditional roof-mounted luggage boxes, but it will also protect its contents from the elements as well as opportunistic thieves.
4. Multi-stowage drawer
Continuing on the storage theme, Bentley developed a multi-functional boot drawer. The drawer is fitted to the boot floor, and allows the user to securely stow valuables or lifestyle equipment. Incorporating a drain plug and durable, waterproof thermoplastic elastomer lined walls and floor, the user can then transport wet items without ruining the boot carpet. Furthermore, the drawer is divided into two separate compartments, allowing the user to separate wet items from dry items.
This 100 litre drawer slides out towards the rear, allowing the user to access its furthest reaches with ease. The box is finished in an anodised satin finish to match the boot's load rails, and maintain the luxurious look and feel in the boot of the Bentayga.
5. Load assist tray
Operating similarly to the multi-stowage drawer, the load assist tray is a flat platform that is constructed in lightweight aluminium. This tray allows the user to access items stored at the very deepest part of the boot, by merely sliding out the contents to provide an easier reach. The tray has a 300 kg load capacity, and is fitted to the floor with the integrated boot runners making it ideal for most items stored in the boot, including luggage.
6. Cycle carrier
With most owners adopting more active and healthy lifestyles, Bentley created bespoke cycle carriers in response. The cycle carriers come in two configurations, one of which allows for two bicycles, while the other will accommodate three. The cycle carrier is mounted to the Bentayga via the tow-bar, however, the boot remains accessible even while the carrier is in use. The carrier can also be folded away for easier access to the luggage bay.
