5 Volvo S90 accessories you didn't know you needed

The Volvo S90 is one of my favourite sedans on the market, with excellent safety credentials, a stylish and minimalistic interior, and a whole host of advanced assistance systems to make your life easier. But what are the best options to add when you spec your S90? We've selected the entry-level S90, the Momentum D4 Geartronic, from R733 900.

Here's how we'd spruce it up, if we were to buy one:

1. 360-degree Camera, R12 750

If you've ever experienced that feeling of horror when your car has hit a rock, pole, or another obstacle, then Volvo's crystal clear 360-degree camera display will prevent your stress levels from hitting the ceiling. The camera shows you a high-res bird's eye view of the entire area that surrounds the car. This is especially helpful if you're in a confined area where visibility isn't very good.

The system uses a total of four cameras to give you 'eyes' on the front, rear, and sides of the car. Touch the corresponding image on the centre display, and you'll get a detailed view of only that side.

You can also select a zoomed-in view of a certain area when you have to perform a complex task like hitching a trailer, or just to see how close you are to the kerb so you don't scratch those gorgeous rims.

2. Park Assist Pilot, R7 900

Are you one of those people who would rather walk two kilometres to a restaurant than parallel park right in front of it? You are not alone.

If you want to take the hassle out of parallel parking, leave it to the experts; in this case, the S90 itself. Park Assist Pilot will measure the parking space and will continue to park the car by taking charge of the steering. That's right, you lift your hands off the wheel and the S90 does the rest.

Park Assist Pilot takes care of both parallel and perpendicular parking, and will also help you to squeeze out of a tight space.

3. Graphic Head-up Display, R14 900

You don't need to have Attention Deficit Disorder to appreciate the luxury of having the most vital information right in front of your eyes. This way you can keep track of your speed, speed limits, sat-nav directions and more.

Volvo's head-up display will automatically adapt to dark or sunny weather conditions so that it's always perfectly clear and easy to read. You can also adjust the system to suit you personally, and link it to the driver's seat memory function.

4. Child booster seats, R 2850

Considering how expensive good child seats have become and what a pain it can be to install and clean them, these integrated child booster cushions from Volvo are a brilliant solution.

Fully adjustable to suit ages 3-6 as well as 6-10, they enable the 3-point seat belt to be perfectly positioned so that your little darlings are always kept safe. These booster seats can be neatly stowed out of sight in the outer rear cushions when not in use.

5. Black Roof lining, R 3050

Ever seen those grubby finger marks against a car's roof lining? The issue is that this material is usually pale, unless otherwise specified, and gets dirty very easily. For R3050 you can spec Volvo's charcoal lining that will keep your new car looking spotless.
