5 Useful extras you can retrofit to your used Ford Fiesta

The Ford Fiesta has always been an excellent choice for new drivers and those who want a reliable city car with good safety credentials. If you plan on driving your Fiesta for a long time, maybe you should consider adding a few extras to protect it from the abuse of daily driving.

The Ford Fiesta is one of those compact cars that always makes my list of Best Cars for New Drivers. Whether you buy a demo model with low mileage or a slightly older model, the Fiesta will do a great job of transporting you and your closest friends (or family) where you need to go, while remaining cheap to run and to service. 

Thanks to Ford's extensive dealer network, you can rest assured that parts will be readily available and that services won't take too long. Parts for the Fiesta are very affordable too.

If you plan on driving your Fiesta until the wheels fall off, we suggest adding some extras to keep it in tip-top shape so it looks well cared for until the end of its lifelong journey.

The extras listed here are for 2013 Fiestas onwards:

1. Bonnet guard

The nose and grille is the 'face' of your car, so help it stay handsome by fitting a bonnet guard so the paintwork doesn't crack or fade. Made from acrylic and styled to look like carbon fibre, it's easy to remove and to clean. Also available as a bug deflector.

2. FlexiShield Protective Film

Protect your Fiesta's pretty paint with FlexiShield Protective Film. FlexiShield is a shiny, self-healing elastomeric polymer that is scratch and stain resistant, and protects your car from the heat and UV rays of the sun too. Got a nasty ex with car-keying tendencies? This is one way of limiting the damage...

3. Mud flaps

Reduce road spray and prevent those unsightly stone chips by fitting some Ford mud flaps. They're available in sets of two for the front or the rear.

4. Front scuff plates with the Fiesta logo

Polished stainless steel scuff plates do double duty: They protect your door sills from scratches, and they look cool too. Kits are available for 3-oor or 5-door Fiestas.

5. Headlight protectors

These headlight protectors deflect small stones, prevent UV damage, and limit daily wear and tear.  They're also easily removable.
