Which Suzuki Vitara Brezza trim depreciates the fastest?

One of the best selling compact SUVs in India since 2016 and now South Africa since 2021. The Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a good value proposition. Which trim depreciates the fastest though?

The Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a nice value proposition. This is a well-specced compact SUV that has sold well in India since 2016 but made its made to South African shores in 2021 after a model update. My colleague Ané Albertse had the vehicle on test and you can read her review here.

The 'Vitara' nameplate needs no introduction in South Africa as its earned its respect with dependable offroad ability. The Vitara Brezza is different in some respect in that it's more of an urban-focused compact SUV but can hold its own in soft offroad scenarios. Inside you'll find a 7-inch touchscreen that's standard across the Vitara Brezza range, it even includes vehicle alerts too. Safety-wise, the Vitara Brezza has the same specification across the range and you're safe with the Brezza's 4-Star NCAP rating. It's all good value for money here, but which trim depreciates the fastest? We'll be using the launch 2021 price as a reference here.

1. Vitara Brezza 1.5 GL (Manual and Auto)

Kicking this off here with the GL trim which has all the standard specifications mentioned above but notable exterior features like the steel wheels with hubcaps. The GL trim is available in both automatic and manual transmissions.

2. Vitara Brezza 1.5 GLX

The 1.5 GLX kicks this up a notch with wider diamond-cut and polished alloy wheels as standard along with LED daytime running lights and automatic projectors for the main headlamps and LED fog lamps. Lastly,  there's a silver lower chin plate and some two-tone colour options.

GLX Manual GLX Auto

3. Vitara Brezza 1.5 S-Edition

The S-Edition slots in between the GL and GLX and serves as a cosmetic package. You'll find new looks like a new grille, skid plates, new 16-inch wheels, wind deflectors and some new colours for the interior trim. There are also electric fold-in mirrors, rear parking sensors and a height-adjustable driver's seat. This model is fairly new as it launched in April 2022 so we'll use the 2022 pricing. Here's more on the S-Edition trim.

New Price (2022): R289 900 New Price (2022): R309 900

Average Mileage: 4 000km Average Mileage: 640km

Verdict

Interestingly, the base model 1.5 GL retained more value than its specced-up GLX counterpart with a similar range in average mileage. The GL S-Edition is still fairly new hence the low average mileages and minimal depreciation value. We can say that the 1.5 GLX after calculating, depreciates the fastest.
