Suzuki's compact city car, the Celerio, entered the market n 2015 as a replacement for the popular Alto, which had been serving customers well since Suzuki's independent return to South Africa. The Celerio brought with it a fresh new design, improved trim levels, and an increase in interior space. These enhancements helped create a vehicle that we positively love! As far as affordable motoring goes, it doesn't get more honest and dependable than the diminutive Suzuki Celerio.

One of our favourite features of the car was indeed the engine. Endearing and full of character, the powerplant in this model is one that we could comfortably live with on a daily basis.
Engine options
The Celerio was offered with a choice of three engines on the global market. Since its inception, there have been two 1.0-litre petrol engines and a single diesel offering. South Africa only ever got the K10B engine and no diesel model was offered locally.
The K10B is a charming little thing. It produces 50 kW at 6 000 RPM and 90 Nm torque at 3 500 RPM and is claimed to return fuel consumption figures of 4.6 l/100 km on the combined cycle. One thing we can confirm is that this is a rather accurate claim and we've even managed to get it lower than that in tests; it really is a fuel-efficient little engine. Combined with its 35-litre fuel tank, you can expect a fuel range of approximately 750 km. The K10B produces only 108 g/km CO2.
While these power figures may seem a little on the low side, we can assure you that the Celerio has adequate get up and go, as the compact Celerio only weighs in at 835 kg.
