Diesel or Petrol

Chinese automaker Chery introduced the Omoda sub-brand at the beginning of 2023 to a market already rather busy with fashionable city crossovers. The Omoda represents a step-up for Chery, who had already taken the SA market by storm with the value-for-money Tiggo range.

Chery is the largest engine manufacturer in China and has won multiple awards for their advanced engine designs, and the power plant in the new Omoda C5 is no exception.

Fuel type

The Omoda C5 is only available with a 1.5l turbo petrol engine; thus, no diesel option is available in South Africa. Returning a claimed 6.9l/100km, the petrol engine in the Omoda C5 is as frugal as the vehicle is stylish.

Is the Omoda C5 a petrol or a diesel?
