In 2024, Mercedes-Benz introduced the facelifted GLC Coupé locally. While the model remains instantly recognisable with its sleek sloping roofline, upfront and at the rear of the new model, there have been some welcomed updates made for a more muscular look. But it's not just on the exterior where advancements have been made; the interior also features some new technology, including a new steering wheel, the large 11.9-inch MBUX touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

But before you sell your car quickly and easily on our website here and start your search for new or used Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé models on AutoTrader here, let us first tell you which one we think is the best variant.

Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé variants

Mercedes-Benz GLC220d Coupé 4Matic

At the time of writing this article, customers can choose from four Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé derivatives. Two diesel options are available in Avantgarde guise and AMG Line trim variants of the same engines. The engines are as follows: The first is the GLC220d, a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel motor developing 162 kW and 440 Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz claims this will be enough to propel the GLC220d from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 225 km/h. More importantly, the German automaker claims an average fuel consumption of 5.1 L / 100 km. The Mercedes-Benz GLC220d Coupé 4Matic in Avantgarde trim will set you back from R1 399 066 and in AMG Line guise from R1 483 966.

Mercedes-Benz GLC300d Coupé 4Matic

The next engine available in the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupé range is the 300d. This is also a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel motor, but it produces more power and torque, 215 kW and 550 Nm, to be exact. Mercedes-Benz claims that the 0-100 km/h sprint time is reduced to 6.4 seconds while the top speed increases to 249 km/h.

The claimed average fuel consumption doesn't increase by much. In fact, the German automaker claims the 300d should return around 5.5 L / 100 km, 0.4 L / 100 km more than its 220d sibling. Like the GLC220d, the GLC300d can be had in Avantgarde and AMG Line trim. While the Mercedes-Benz GLC300d Coupé 4Matic Avantgarde will cost you from R1 455 745, the Mercedes-Benz GLC300d Coupé 4Matic in AMG Line guise will set you back from R1 540 645.

Verdict

Whether you decide on the Avantgarde trim or the AMG Line specification is subjective. However, choosing between the 220d and 300d powertrain configurations could become a headscratcher for most. For us, the Mercedes-Benz GLC220d Coupé 4Matic provides ample power and comfort for the daily commute. While its claimed average fuel consumption isn't that much lower than that of the 300d variants, it is enough to make a big difference over the entire ownership period. Thus, our winner is the Mercedes-Benz GLC220d Coupé 4Matic in either of the available trim specifications.
