Chinese automakers have targeted South Africa as a destination of note for many of their domestically produced vehicles. Most of these vehicles are SUV-styled models, and South Africans have been lapping them up. GWM's Haval brand was the first to really make an indent with the H series crossovers and, since then, has branched out into other derivatives, one of these being the Jolion.

The Haval Jolion, in its many trim options, ranging from the entry-level City derivative to the flagship Super Luxury and its Hybrid versions, represents incredible value for money and offers a lot of car for very comparable money. Four years after its introduction in 2021, we were interested in determining which Jolion has maintained its value the best. Working on a two-year gap due to introducing new models during the facelift period, we compare selling prices versus what the used market will currently demand and then see what type of value remains.

Verdict

Looking at the overall percentage loss for all the Jolion models, it is clear to see that the middle-of-the-range Premium has held its value the best over a two-year span with a loss of only 10% while the entry-level City has faired the worst with 22% value lost.
