Which is the Fastest Haval Model in Mzansi?

The Haval H6 GT (read our review here) is the fastest Haval model in South Africa. Equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 155kW and 325Nm of torque, the Haval H6 GT is a powerful SUV that looks good, and has a bit of heat under the hood when you need to get somewhere fast, or pass a slow-moving vehicle.

Haval H6 GT Performance

While the exact 0-100 km/h sprint time of the Haval H6 GT has not been officially claimed by the manufacturer, sources suggest that it can achieve a 0-100 km/h sprint time of around 8.5 seconds. The Haval H6 GT is also driven by all four wheels, bringing surefootedness and stability.  My colleague, Lawrence, had it on test:

The H6 GT is powered by the same engine that you will find in the standard H6, except of course that power figures have been bumped ever so slightly. Powered by a 2.0l turbocharged petrol engine and mated to a 7-speed DCT transmission, the GT delivers 155kW and 325Nm, 5 more of both, than the base engine, and can do a 0-100 sprint in around 8 seconds.

It's not going to blow your hair back but for a vehicle of its size and mass, it is pretty decent. The GT is equipped with drive modes such as Road, Sport, Race, Eco, Snow, and Offroad because it is All Wheel Drive and although there is little discernible difference in performance, changing to Race mode does change the sound of the exhaust as the GT is equipped with an active exhaust system.

The familiar delay that you get when pressing the throttle does annoy you when trying to gap traffic but if you take this vehicle up at what its name suggests it is a brilliant GT cruiser, not a traffic light racer. - Lawrence Minnie, AutoTrader

Haval H6 GT Features

The H6 GT has a spacious back seat with ample leg and headroom. It also has a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, touch screen infotainment system, FM/AM/Radio, Bluetooth Connectivity, USB & Auxiliary Input, Speakers Front, Speakers Rear, Integrated 2DIN Audio, Wireless Charger, Apple Carplay and Android Auto. The H6 GT also has a panoramic sunroof, electric power steering, leather steering wheel rim, steering wheel heating, and multi-function steering wheel controls.

In terms of safety features, the Haval H6 GT comes with ABS, EBD, TSC, Hill Descent Control, Lane Keeping Assist, TPMS, 6 airbags, ISOfix, and more. The H6 GT also has a five-star ANCAP safety rating.

Haval H6 GT Price

The Haval H6 GT is priced at R 642 550. If you're keen on saving fuel and "greener" living, then the H6 1.5T HEV Ultra Luxury will be more to your liking. It's a bit pricier at R669 950 but with a claimed average of 5.2 litres per 100 km it will be worth it in the end.
