What is the best hatchback for golf clubs?
While many consider mountain biking to be the new golf, there is still no denying the allure of a relaxing but simultaneously infuriating day on the course. Those in the market for a premium hatchback that will fit their golf clubs will be happy to know that there are five models on the market that will suit their requirements perfectly.
We measured our set of clubs and they came out to 129cm long when in the bag. This is because the driver and fairway woods protrude from the bag, however, with these two removed, the total length was 107cm, which leads us to recommend taking the driver and fairway woods out of the bag, placing the bag in the boot, and then placing the driver and fairway wood in the boot, as pictured.
1. Audi A3
With 380-litres of boot space, the latest Audi A3 will fit a set of golf clubs in its boot quite easily. The boost extends to 1 200-litres with the seat folded flat, should you need to fit more than one set of clubs inside.
2. BMW 1 Series
Matching its Audi rival, the new 1 Series offers the same 380-litres of boot space which also extends to 1 200-litres with the second row of seats stowed away.
3. Mazda3 hatch
Mazda's decidedly premium Mazda3 hatch sports a modest 295-litres of boots space, which is just about enough to accommodate a set of golf clubs.
4. Mercedes-Benz A-Class
The latest A-Class sports an impressive 370-litres of boot space that extends to 1 210-litres of space with the rear seats folded flat.
5. Volkswagen Golf GTI
This list would not be complete without the car named after the game itself. The latest Golf GTi offers 374-litres of boot space, allowing it to accommodate a set of golf clubs with ease.
