When you buy a new Toyota from an authorized dealer in South Africa (including Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho, or Eswatini) you get more than just a top-quality vehicle. Toyota ensures that your new car, along with all Toyota-approved accessories, chassis, and parts (except tyres, batteries, and a few other excluded items), is covered against defects in materials and workmanship for a set period. This warranty kicks in as soon as you drive your new car off the lot and is designed to give you peace of mind on the road.

So, what exactly does this warranty cover? If your Toyota encounters any issues due to defects in materials or workmanship during the warranty period, Toyota will fix or replace the faulty parts at no cost to you. All you need to do is take your vehicle to any authorized Toyota dealer, and they’ll handle the rest. It’s that simple.

However, it’s important to know what the warranty doesn’t cover. Normal wear and tear or regular inspections are not included. Instead, this is covered by the service plan and is separate to the warranty but also related; a service plan can be voided if there is a severe enough breech of the warranty. Additionally, the warranty doesn’t extend if you have repairs done during the warranty period. It sticks to the original timeline provided in your warranty book.

What doesn't the warranty cover?

Here are a few more things that aren’t covered by the warranty:

- Negligence or misuse: If the vehicle is mistreated, involved in an accident, or altered in any way, the warranty won’t apply.

- Unauthorized repairs: Only repairs done by an authorized Toyota distributor or dealer are covered.

- Competition use: If the vehicle is used in any form of competition, the warranty is void.

- Non-Toyota parts: Issues arising from the use of non-Toyota parts or unapproved accessories aren’t covered.

- Improper maintenance: The vehicle must be maintained and serviced as per the schedule by an authorized dealer.

- Incorrect fuel: Using the wrong type or grade of fuel (like petrol instead of diesel) can void the warranty.

- Accidents: Damage from accidents is not covered.

- Towbar-related damage: Any damage related to fitting a towbar or towing isn’t included.

This warranty replaces any other warranties or obligations from Toyota South Africa or its authorized dealers. Remember, these terms are only valid for vehicles sold, registered, and operating in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana. Also, the warranty period doesn’t get extended because of repairs or replacements done during that time.

In short, Toyota’s warranty is designed to keep you confident and worry-free while driving. It’s a promise of quality and reliability, ensuring that your investment is protected and your driving experience remains smooth and enjoyable.
