What is covered under Hyundai H-1 manufacturer car warranty?

The Hyundai H-1 is an impressive vehicle and, since its launch has been greeted with open arms by those wanting a well-built, spacious, comfortable and economical people mover. Now it its second generation the H-1 offers a refined design as well as the inclusion of new infotainment technology. A highlight of the H-1 range is indeed the 2.5-litre VGTi diesel engine which develops 125kW and 441Nm. Customers of vehicles sold after 1 February 2016 benefit from a class leading 7 year/200 000km warranty as standard. Those sold before this date benefited from the equally impressive 5 year/150 000km warranty.

What does this world-class warranty offer?

What do these warranties actually do? How do they benefit the customer? Many people forget about what is covered and end up missing out on benefits, this can cause unnecessary cost implications.   Let’s take a closer look at what is covered.

 

The Hyundai warranty commits the brand to repair or replace a component of your Hyundai vehicle if a fault develops within the contractual period, be it 7 years or 5 years or within the prescribed kilometres, whichever comes first. It is worth noting however that your vehicle warranty period is only effective if your vehicle has been serviced and maintained at a recognised and approved Hyundai Automotive Service Centre.

 

The Hyundai 7 year warranty is carried over to new owners if the vehicle is sold while still under its original warranty. This doesn’t however mean that Hyundai warranties are only applicable to new vehicles. Hyundai offers an alternative service called the Extended Warranty which has been designed to protect you and your pocket when purchasing a pre-owned Hyundai that is out of its original warranty. The Extended Warranty covers a wide range of parts and components.

 

So we now know that the Hyundai warranty is one of the best but what does it actually cover? As mentioned the warranty covers manufacturer defects that may occur within the time period of the warranty plan. This plan covers items such as:

• Engine: block, cylinder head(s), gaskets, oils seals, water pump, intake and exhaust manifolds, fuel pumps, flywheel and ring gear are covered for the basic warranty period.
• Transmission and Gearbox: All internal parts, gears, housings, gaskets, oil seals, bearings, shafts, counter shafts, selector forks and shafts are covered for the basic warranty period.
• Drive lines and Final drives: All internal gears, shafts and bearings, axle shafts, constant velocity joints, universal joints, drive and prop shafts are covered for the basic warranty period.
• Clutch and Pressure plates: The entire clutch plate is only covered for a period of 1 year or 20 000km, whichever occurs first. Torque Converters: Torque converters are covered for the basic warranty period.
• Steering: Manual linkages, joints, rack and pinion, power steering pump, power steering rack and pinion are covered for the basic warranty period.
• Front and Rear suspensions:  Upper and lower control arms, control arm shafts and bushings, upper and lower ball joints, kingpins and bushings, spindles and stabiliser bars and bushes, shocks and struts are covered for the basic warranty period for any mechanical failures.
• Brakes: All major components excluding pads and linings are covered for any mechanical failures for the basic warranty period.
• Exhaust: The complete exhaust system is covered for the basic warranty period.
• Electrical: Alternator, regulator, starter motor, solenoid and windscreen wiper motor (front and rear) are covered against mechanical failures for the basic warranty period.
• Air conditioning systems: Air conditioning systems supplied by HMC Korea are covered for the basic warranty period. Locally supplied and fitted air conditioning systems are covered by the local supplied for the basic warranty period.
• Batteries Passenger and Light Commercial: These are covered for a period of 2 years or 40 000 km, whichever occurs first.
