Chinese automaker BAIC launched its Beijing X55 into the local market late in 2022, and on paper at least, it seems to offer fantastic value for money in the compact crossover SUV segment. The model comes with a manufacturer warranty as standard, but what does that cover?

The model is offered in three trim levels namely Dynamic, Elite and Premium. Each variant is offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
Warranty
The BAIC X55 is sold with a 5-year / 150 000km warranty as standard which is competitive for the segment.
Service
Customers will need to purchase a service plan on their BAIC Beijing X55 and said plan is 5-year / 60 000km. Service intervals are set to every 15 000km or every year, whichever occurs first.
Cover
As long as the owner adheres to the service intervals and only use manufacturer approved parts and accessories, will the warranty will remain intact. Should you notice any warning lights illuminated in the instrument cluster or notice any unusual noises, vehicle behaviour or defects in the parts, materials, assembly or manufacturing quality, it is advised to book your vehicle in for an inspection at an approved dealership.
The warranty sold with your X55 covers the repair or replacement of the faulty parts but owners should ensure that the inspection and any necessary repairs are done by an official BAIC dealership and that only genuine parts are used.
Exclusions
While there are a lot of moving parts in a car, some components will experience wear and tear much faster than others. Also, the degree of wear and tear of these components usually is a result of the driver's operating inputs. Because of this, there are a few parts that will not be covered under the warranty.
- Shock absorbers.
- Clutch plate.
- Brake pads and discs.
- Tyres.
- Wheel balancing and alignment.
- Servicing, including oil changes and major maintenance.
- Any aftermarket accessories and modifications.
- Damage as a result of accidents or driver abuse.
