It is not very often you are offered more than one engine configuration for one specific Ferrari model and even less so where it is a choice between a V12 or a V8. We compared Ferrari GTC4Lusso engines, and the efficiency crown goes to.
The Ferrari GTC4Lusso made its global debut during 2016 and replaced the FF model. Although Ferrari has been known to offer vehicles with a 2+2 configuration as far back as 1959 with the 250 GT/E, the FF and subsequent GTC4Lusso models are different in that it offers a shooting-brake styled design. The FF and V12 powered GTC4Lusso also set itself apart with a patented four-wheel-drive system.

The GTC4Lusso further sees an improvement to the 4RM-S system as Ferrari incorporated rear-wheel-steering to assist the front wheels in changing direction as well as improve the torque vectoring to the front axle. The complete system, however, is only found on the V12 powered models with the V8 powered GTC4Lusso T models having to make do with rear-wheel-drive only but retains four-wheel-steering.
Powertrains
The Ferrari GTC4Lusso and GTC4Lusso T models are no longer sold as new, however, a few pre-owned examples are on offer. But in order to find out just how efficient each engine configuration is, we will be comparing both models side-by-side.

Conclusion
While there is no denying that owning a V12 powered Ferrari is an attractive prospect, the turbocharged V8 does an incredible job in producing similar performance figures. As seen in the comparison, the GTC4Lusso T reaches 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds, 1 second slower than the V12 powered GTC4Lusso. The V8 also has a lower top speed of about 15 km/h but in this article, we are focussing on efficiency.
Producing 63 Nm more than the V12 variant, the GTC4Lusso T not only offer more torque but also lower average fuel consumption, in fact, 3.4 L / 100 km lower. It also produces less CO2 emissions, at 265 g/km it is 85 g/km less than what the V12 produces in the GTC4Lusso. So in this comparison, the most efficient engine is the 3.9-litre, turbocharged V8 petrol in the Ferrari GTC4Lusso T.
