1. Toyota Hilux
Top benefits: “Apart from its reputation, I think it's a very durable and bold bakkie. The quality of the vehicle is good and it has a good resale value for the maturity of the vehicle. ”
Downsides: “It is a very popular car to be hijacked, the price as well is a bit higher compared to other bakkies, it's definitely a bit overpriced.”

2. Volkswagen Amarok
Top benefits: “It's a German car, so you know it's a quality vehicle, the space inside the vehicle is good and practical and the drivability is excellent, I would say one of the best bakkies.”
Downsides: “In some of the models it doesn't have many bells and whistles compared to others that you get like the Hilux, but that can be personal preference.”

3. Ford Ranger
Top benefits: “It comes with a lot of bells and whistles, it can also come in different variants but the main thing why it's my top 3 is the price. If I was on a budget this would be the one I chose.”
Downsides: “We've experienced a lot of engines failing on the Rangers, if they’re high mileage they just don't seem to last. They're not great if you drive around 160,000km, it's just not very durable if you drive around a lot.”
