Top 5 safety features on a JAC T6

We look at the Top 5 safety features that can be found on most JAC T6 double cabs, ranging from airbags to electronic brake-force distribution and everything in between.

Buying a Car

The JAC T6 is an appealing proposition. With new prices starting from as little as R309 900 for the Double Cab Comfort and a range-topping T6 1.9T double cab 4x4 Lux only costing R374 900, we can understand if you're considering one.

The savings continue if you scour the used car market and we found several on site for below R300 000 with only demo mileage.

We understand that you will have your reservations about the JAC T6 as there isn't all that much written about the model and it's hardly a sales threat to the like of the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger. One of the primary concerns is regarding safety. We are pleased to inform you that the JAC T6 scores a 4-start C-NCAP rating and is equipped with several other safety features.

Here are the Top 5 safety features of the JAC T6 Double Cab

1. Airbags

All JAC T6 models are equipped with dual airbags for the front passengers. When used in conjunction with the seatbelts, the airbags will reduce the likelihood of injury and even a fatality. In the JAC T6, both the driver and front passenger are catered for.

2. Antilock brakes

Standard fitment across the range is a set of 319 mm disc brakes up front with drum brakes in the rear. These are equipped with an Antilock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution. ABS prevents the wheels from locking up and the vehicle skidding under braking application while the EBD ensures that the propensity to nosedive and lose control is minimised. It does this by automatically transferring braking power between the front and rear wheels.

3. Reverse Camera

It may not seem like an all-too-important feature, a reverse camera, but for those with loved ones - be they children or of the furry kind - being able to see behind you when you reverse is the additional peace of mind that cannot be replaced. The reverse camera in the T6 displays the are behind the double cab on the 7-inch screen of the infotainment system so that you don't miss a thing.

*Not available in Comfort models.

4. Height Adjustment

An often overlooked aspect of safety is the arrangement of the safety systems. It's all good and well having them in place, but if they are improperly adjusted, they can cause more harm than good. Seatbelts are one of those items. A properly adjusted seatbelt will ensure that it performs in the manner intended. The JAC T6 has height-adjustable seatbelts so that no matter your height, you can get the fit that works for you.

5. Child Safety

You're looking at a double cab because you have more than one person you need to transport and the chances are, they're smaller than you. Child safety locks on the rear doors of the JAC T6 will ensure that little ones are not able to open the rear doors on their own, eliminating the risk of a sudden and unplanned exit from the vehicle.
