Top 3 things you need to know about the new Audi RS Q3
If you like your Audi Q3 more performance-orientated, chances are that you are waiting for the new RS Q3 with bated breath. While the Q3 Sportback has already arrived, the RS Q3 and its Sportback equivalent are yet to make their appearance. According to Audi SA, the RS Q3 range will be launching to local media in the first quarter of 2021. *Here's what you can look forward to.
1. More power, control, and excitement
The new RS Q3 will have Audi's legendary five-cylinder, 2.5 TFSI engine under its handsome bonnet. It has an output of almost 300kW (294, to be exact) and 480Nm. This engine has been voted International Engine of the Year for nine times in a row since 2010, and is able to draw 17% more power from its unchanged displacement of 2 480 cc. The 0-100 km/h sprint is over and done with in a swift 4.5 seconds and the car's top speed is 280 km per hour. Stopping power would need to be on point, so Audi has added its newly-developed RS ceramic braking system with coloured callipers and large ceramic brake disks in the front and rear.

2. A more rigid body, RS Mode, and RS suspension Plus with Dynamic Chassis Control
As is usually the case, every new RS model that leaves Ingolstadt is constructed with even more high-strength steel that increases torsional rigidity and body control. The new RS Q3 models also benefit from better soundproofing, partly due to an even lower drag co-efficient of only 0,35 and 0,37. New “RS1” and “RS2” drive modes can be customized and saved via the MMI touch display, allowing quick access via “RS MODE” steering wheel button. RS-specific progressive steering is a standard feature, while RS sport suspension plus with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) is available as an option.
Audi quattro takes care of the all-wheel drive while a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox (with short shift times) is standard. Purists and tech-lovers alike will appreciate the 1-2-4-5-3 firing sequence of the cylinders for that sporty RS-soundtrack.

3. More in-car tech and better ergonomics
As is de rigeur with all new Audis these days, there are digital screens everywhere. The MMI touch display with its high-gloss black glass-look background takes centre stage in the Audi RS Q3 dashboard. The air-vents and MMI touch display are tilted toward the driver by ten degrees for increased ease of use. Buyers can also opt for the larger Audi virtual cockpit plus with RS-specific displays which provide information on tyre pressure, torque, power output, lap times, G-forces, and acceleration. RS Q3 models benefit from a Bang & Olufsen 2D Premium Sound System for an aural experience to match the RS Q3's exemplary handling ambitions.
The RS sport leather steering wheel with newly-designed shift paddles enhance the overall athletic look, while the RS sport seats in fine Nappa leather with the RS-specific honeycomb pattern and integrated head restraints are available in the Q3 family for the first time.
