The Datsun nameplate was revived in late 2014 when the Japanese firm introduced its A-segment competitor, the Go. Less than two years later Datsun introduced a second model to its product range namely the Go+. While the Datsun Go+ retained the styling of the hatchback Go upfront, down the side and toward the rear is where the biggest changes happen, it is an MPV.

The model range was met with excitement by first-time car buyers as it proposed a good value for money proposition in their respective segments. However, both the Go and Go+ models also sparked a hot debate in the automotive field regarding minimum safety requirements for new cars. 

Here's what you need to know with regard to the following:

1. Safety

After many debates around what the basic safety requirements should be, even in very affordable vehicles, Datsun went back to the drawing board and introduced a variety of new safety features to its vehicles in its 2018 update. Instead of just one airbag for the driver, the Datsun Go+ now offer dual front airbags, adding protection for the front passenger.

To assist in slowing the Datsun Go+, ABS brakes now feature as standard equipment throughout the range. Datsun also added stability control to the Lux variants and will assist in mitigating skidding and roll-overs. Furthermore all but the middle seat of the second row of seats get three-point pre-tensioner seatbelts to keep passengers in place during a collision. 

2. Styling

If you are considering a new or a used Datsun Go+ model on AutoTrader that is manufactured after 2018, you not only benefit from updated safety features but also bolstered styling. Upfront, the Datsun Go+ offers a sharper front bumper which on the Lux derivatives incorporates modern LED daytime running lights. The rear bumper also got a refresh and hosts the rear-parking sensors which are standard equipment across the range. 

While in all trim levels the Datsun Go+ comes standard with 14-inch wheels, stylish 15-inch items are available as optional equipment. The design updates extend to the interior too with a revised dashboard that is both more stylish and well put together. The new dashboard design also now accommodates the new infotainment system that came with the 2018 update.

 

3. Tech

Centrally fitted to the new dashboard, customers will notice a new 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in place of the older system. The new infotainment system offers owners USB input as well as Bluetooth connectivity and Auxiliary input. The configuration is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for the best screen mirroring experience. 

The Datsun Go+ also offer occupants an air-conditioning system as standard as well as electric windows all around. The driver can adjust their mirrors electrically and once home can lock the vehicle with the standard remote central locking feature.
