The Suzuki Jimny entered the market during 2018 and immediately starting selling out. In-fact for a few months, Suzuki SA couldn't keep up with the demand and had to place customers on to a waiting list. Now just over two years in the market and the little 4x4 still remains popular with customers and is one of the brand's top-selling vehicles.

The Suzuki is sold with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol motor under the bonnet. The engine is mated to either a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual gearbox, both of which sends the 75 kW and 130 Nm of torque to all four wheels. Although it might not be quick sprinter, the Jimny has received much acclaim for its off-road capability.
1. Airbags
The Jimny is a compact vehicle and offers only four seats to occupants. Both the driver and the front occupant benefit from airbags resulting in a total number of two. With the Suzuki Jimny being so compact, it is often bought by people that will mostly only use the front seats and stow items in the rear, however, has incorporated ISOFIX anchors for new small families and seatbelts do feature at the rear.
2. Chassis
Hidden under all the bodywork features Suzuki's Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) ladder frame chassis. This chassis incorporates a patented X-shaped cross member and integrates high-strength steel, computer-aided design and the rigid platform for greater rigidity, strength and crash safety.
Suzuki also included impact-absorbing zones as well as side-impact bars for the protection of both the occupants and pedestrians in the event of an accident.
3. Safety systems
Although the Jimny is built to protect its occupants and improve safety towards pedestrians, the main goal is to try and avoid accidents or collisions. Suzuki has added a few safety systems to assist a driver in just that. Fitted as standard are ABS brakes which prevents the wheels from locking up under hard braking and maintain grip.
Bolstering the ABS brakes is an emergency brake assistance (BAS) system. The system monitors the speed of the vehicle and interprets the speed and forced that is applied to the brake pedal. Using this information, the system will automatically increase the brake pressure to assist the driver which might not be applying enough during the event of an emergency.
Lastly but surely not least, the Jimny comes standard with Electronic Stability Programme (ESP). In the event of an emergency, the system will employ the individual ABS brakes to assist in the changing of direction of a vehicle. It will also keep vehicle stable under emergency swerving situations.
