The top 4 safety features of a new Jaguar XF
The current-generation Jaguar XF arrived early in 2016, with a host of standard-fit safety features across the board. But the march of technology continued unabated since then, which enabled the engineers at Jaguar to add even more standard safety boosts when the XF received its mid-life update in late-2020. Let’s investigate the latest Jaguar XF’s top 4 safety features.
If you’re in the market for a mid-sized executive sedan that’s a bit out of the mainstream, you would do well to visit your nearest Jaguar showroom to take a gander at the latest Jaguar XF. Apart from the recent mild facelift, which also saw a range rationalisation to only 3 available engines (two petrols, one diesel, all 2.0-litre turbo 4-cylinders), the upgrades under the skin are even more extensive. They go beyond the usual infotainment and trim improvements, to include some up-to-date safety additions to the standard spec sheet.

1. Starting from a solid base
Even the pre-facelift Jaguar XF scored a 5-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating, courtesy of its advanced aluminium monocoque construction and 6 airbags. Other common features, shared with the older (second-generation) XF, include rear ISOFIX child seat anchors, multi-mode stability control, standard lane-keeping assistance, parking sensors front and rear, and driver condition monitoring (which checks whether the driver is sufficiently alert to drive). These features carry over, but are expanded upon for the facelifted XF.
2. ClearSight rear-view technology
One of Jaguar Land Rover’s latest innovations goes by the trade name of “ClearSight”, and it’s now implemented on the XF range as well. Using a wide-angle rear-facing camera, this system displays an unobstructed high-resolution view behind the car in the center rear-view mirror, enabling drivers to always see what’s really happening behind the car – irrespective of the rear headrest positions or whether there are tall passengers in the rear seats.
3. LED headlamps as standard
All variants of the latest Jaguar XF are equipped with full-LED headlights with automatic leveling and range adjustment, replacing the bi-xenon units found as standard in the pre-facelift car. Added-cost options for the headlight system includes high-beam assistance and “pixel” technology, which blots out light spots that might blind other road users without reducing illumination elsewhere.
4. Expanded situational awareness
The Jaguar XF is one of those cars that are probably more-acutely aware of its surroundings than their drivers are likely to be. This is courtesy of the array of sensors and cameras, which enables available technology such as blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic assistance. It also keeps an eye on surrounding traffic, with the new “Clear Exit Monitor” warning both front- and rear-seat occupants about approaching traffic or cyclists as they exit the vehicle.
