Regarding value, it depends on what you want from the car. The service plan features are essentially the same, but the Vitz plan isn't necessarily tied to a time period, just the service itself. The Celerio, on the other hand, has a longer warranty. The entry-level Vitz undercuts the entry-level Celerio by about R8 000, but the Celerios are cheaper than the Vitz when you go up the range.

Well, it's no surprise that they're exactly the same. The powertrains don't differ between the two, so there's no reason for the stellar fuel consumption to change.
Which is cheaper to run?
It's worth noting that, with an alliance, one model cannot differ too much from the other. The powertrains and overall offering need to remain the same because anything else apart from maybe aesthetics can't complicate the manufacturing process, which will ultimately mess with the vehicle cost, and you can't introduce unfair advantages. This is all established within the business agreement.
However, for the sake of this article, the Vitz will be cheaper to run if you opt for the 1.0 GA model, as it's a more affordable entry point. Regardless, you can't go wrong with both cars.
