Suzuki South Africa used the 2024 Festival of Motoring at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit to launch the latest generation of its best-seller, the Swift. Here is what the brand had to say about the model
A local favourite
Swift has been a best-seller for Japanese brands in the local market since the brand returned to the local market in 2008, accumulating 4 173 unit sales until 2011. The second generation arrived in 2011 and sold until 2018, garnering 15 437 sales. The third generation was the most successful, managing 66 056 unit sales from 2018 to 2024! Now, the fourth generation has arrived on local shores!
New range
the new. The model is based on the same HEARTECT platform, but the interior and exterior are new. Standard features include front and electric windows. The new model offers a 60/40 split folding rear seat and 265-litres of boot space and a lower tailgate opening. The brand has also upgraded the safety with ESP, six airbags, hill-hold assist, projector lights, LED daytime running lights and rear 3-point seatbelts standard across the range.

The flagship model gets a bigger 9.0-inch infotainment system, cruise control, keyless entry, LED projector lamps, digital climate control and alloy wheels.
New engine
The new model is powered by an all-new Z-Series engine, which displaces 1.2 litres, is a 3-cylinder, and produces 60kW and 112Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. Claimed fuel consumption is 4.4 L/100km, a 10% improvement over the outgoing model.
Local availability
The new model will officially launch locally in October of 2024.
