While the McLaren brand is synonymous with Formula 1, their road car heritage is nothing to sneeze at either. With legendary offerings such as the McLaren F1 and Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, the firm has made a name for itself as purveyors of high-end, extreme-performance vehicles. Their return to the production car sector was marked with the release of the MP4-12C, later simply known as the 12C and since then they've continued to push the boundaries of sportscar performance and dynamics.

With production of the 570 coming to an end in 2021, it leaves a gap in their lineup for a newer entry-point into McLaren ownership. While the Artura isn't the legitimate successor to the 570S, it will fill the gap left behind by the departing model.
The Artura will feature a hybrid drivetrain (much like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale) that allows for external charging of the 7.4 kWh battery pack. Despite it being fitted with electric drive components, it's only 46 kg heavier than the outgoing 570S.
The electric motor (with a full-EV range of 30 km) is supplemented by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 for a total output of 500 kW and 700 Nm torque. This means that the Artura can do 0 to 100 km/h in only 2,9-seconds.
