Space for you and four of your crew

The latest generation of the Suzuki Vitara, (as well as the new Toyota Urban Cruiser) is built to seat five people in comfort, not seven. The previous-gen Grand Vitara was also a five-seater. The new Grand Vitara has ample legroom, even for adults, in row two.

The previous-generation Toyota Urban Cruiser and Suzuki Vitara Brezza (which has now been discontinued) were also five-seaters, but are significantly smaller. It's still a great car for small families or couples, though.

The 2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser share many similarities - one could say that it's basically the same car, with different badges and design elements to set them apart. The Vitara and Urban Cruiser share a platform, sheetmetal, have similar safety features, and both have a 1.5-litre petrol-engine, although the Grand Vitara's top-spec model gets a mild-hybrid powertrain to complement the 1.5-litre engine, as well as selectable four-wheel-drive with terrain modes. Both cars have 17-inch wheels and 210mm of ground clearance. Search AutoTrader for 2023 Suzuki Grand Vitara models here.

While the entry-level Toyota Urban Cruiser is cheaper than its Suzuki Counterpart, the mid-spec Grand Vitara in GL guise is better equipped and more affordable than the mid-spec Urban Cruiser.

In terms of passenger safety, both the Urban Cruiser and Grand Vitara have a three-point safety belt and rear headrest for the person on the rear middle seat, making all five seats safe enough for your most precious cargo. This was not a standard feature in the previous-generation Toyota Urban Cruiser and Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
