Quality is the name of the game
We know Mazda for building reliable, dynamic, and upmarket vehicles, and the CX-60 doesn't disappoint. The cabin has been created to be completely driver-centric, and everything is within easy reach and at exactly the right distance from your eyes and arms. Build quality is top-notch.

The fact that the large 12.3-inch screen is not touch-enabled gets two thumbs up from this writer. Mazda's research has proved that this reduces driver distraction, as drivers don't need to take their eyes off the road to change settings on the screen; instead, a rotary dial is used, which is intuitive and simple.

The CX-60 offers plenty of room and the boot is huge
Mazda has once again demonstrated their mastery of maximising interior space and achieving a minimalist design that creates a calming effect on all occupants, particularly the driver.
The Mazda CX-60 has a wheelbase of 2,870 millimetres and measures 4,745 millimetres in length, 1,890 millimetres in width, and 1,680 millimetres in height, providing ample room for families and all their usual day-to-day or holiday cargo. To put things in perspective, the rear seat is capacious, but the Audi Q5 offers a bit more knee room for passengers in row two.
Front and rear passengers have access to USB ports.
The Mazda CX-60's boot is massive, with a 570-litre cargo capacity (not counting the space under the floor), a 1,148-litre capacity with the rear seats folded flat, and a 1,726-litre capacity when fully loaded. Compared to the Mercedes-GLC, the boot is marginally smaller, but a smidge larger than the aforementioned Audi Q5.

The width of the CX-60's tailgate opening is 1,082 mm, and the height of the opening is 758 mm. This means loading it up with things like baby strollers, sports equipment, or just the usual school run paraphernalia is super easy, even if your other half is chilling on the couch and has left you to do all the heavy lifting. There is also a 12 V DC power outlet in the boot.
The CX-60's seats are super comfy
All of the seats in the car were created from the same concept as the driver's seat, so everyone inside is equally comfortable with the same amount of back support. This translates to less driver fatigue and more comfortable (i.e., less whiny) passengers on longer journeys.
The CX-60 is very, very safe
The Mazda CX-60 aims for a Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating and features a comprehensive range of cutting-edge i-Activsense driver assistance systems. The Mazda CX-60 features several innovative technologies, such as the next-generation 360-degree monitor, See-Through View (which provides a wider field of view at low speeds), and Mazda Radar Cruise Control.
Crash-activated fuel-cutoff is another safety feature of the CX-60. Mazda's Lane-Keep Assist System and Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert are two other important i-Activsense driver-supporting technologies that come standard across the lineup.
It has a rocking sound system
The Mazda CX-60 (from R739 800 for the Dynamic model) has an upgraded version of the brand's Harmonic Acoustics audio system, and thanks to the excellent insulation from wind and road noise, it just sounds brilliant.
Audio quality is further enhanced using MSR NR (Master Sound Revive Noise Reduction) technology, which removes shot noise (background electronic noise) included in digital audio sources – a first ever in car audio. - Mazda SA
Should you opt for the Individual variant (R844 500), you have access to the 12-speaker Bose sound system, which sounds even better!
Verdict: Is the CX-60 a fantastic family car?
Yes! Overall, the Mazda CX-60 is a great option for families who want a reliable and efficient SUV that offers a perfect balance of technology, luxury, comfort, and practicality. It doesn't come cheap, though, but quality rarely does, and considering the specs you get, we reckon its price is justified. Besides, the Germans it competes with are much, much more expensive.
