We initially witnessed the GWM Tank 300 at the Shanghai Motorshow in 2023. The Tank 300 is the introductory model to the South African market. Tank is a lifestyle offroad luxury brand in China that will settle well in the South African market. My colleague Lawrence Minnie drove the Tank 300 at launch recently, and you can peruse his thoughts here.

The GWM Tank 300's underpinnings are based on a ladder frame chassis. Suspension-wise, you will find front double wishbone suspension and rear multi-link suspension. The recipe for offroad capability looks promising, but what are we looking at in terms of the drivetrain? Does the Tank 300 come in petrol or diesel?

Conclusion
No diesel powerplants are available for the Tank 300, and as far as we know, there aren't plans to introduce any. You only get pure ICE and hybrid powerplants with the Tank 300 at the time of its launch in South Africa. However, the powerplants on offer will be more than enough to handle the rough stuff. If you're keen on a Tank 300, you can search AutoTrader for the latest used and new offerings and sell your car, too.
