The Renault Duster is a well-known SUV and can be considered a staple on South African roads even. It's no surprise that it's quite capable and dependable. My colleague Ané Albertse had this car on review and you can read her thoughts here.

The Renault Duster embraces the term 'Robust' in many facets. In looks, performance and even in the interior with its modular nature. This vehicle is quite capable. The fabric upholstered interior has a 'ready for the outdoors and whatever you throw at it' approach to it. If you want a little more luxury, you can get leather seats on some models  Interior design in the Duster has a neat layout where ergonomics make it driver and passenger friendly. Since this is an SUV though, how roomy is the Renault Duster?

How much room do we have here?

The exterior dimensions for the Renault Duster are as follows:

Overall Length  4341mm
Width with Door Mirrors 2052mm
Height 1693mm (4x2) 1682mm (4x4)
Ground Clearance 210mm

We'll compare the Renault Duster's roominess to its competitor the Ford EcoSport. The Duster and EcoSport are close in size but the Duster eeks out the EcoSport by a hair when looking at length, height and even ground clearance.

Now we'll look at interior space:

Front Headroom 900mm
Rear Headroom 892mm
Boot Space 478 litres (4x2) 414 litres

In terms of headroom, the EcoSport wins here by about 100mm of front and rear headroom. It's a bit tighter in the Duster if you're a taller individual but there is a height-adjustable driver's seat to mitigate that. The Duster wins boot space wise as there is more capacity to play around with. There's enough room in the Duster for 5 adults but perhaps go with 4 rather for the best possible comfort. You have a feature in the Duster like 1/3 or 2/3 folding rear seats too for some extra room. Overall, the Renault Duster is roomy enough.
