The Ignis is marketed as a compact urban SUV, and one could say that it was one of the vehicles that helped popularise the genre to some degree. The Ignis has been around for some time, though, and you can still buy a brand-new One today. You can check out our Ignis reviews here.

The Ignis has received a few accolades, such as being a 2018 Car of the Year finalist, to name a few. You'll see quirky styling that pays homage to old Suzuki models like the Cervo and others. The typical Suzuki features include a lightweight chassis and a rev-happy small-capacity engine. The 1.2 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine provides 61kW and 113Nm with power sent to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual gearbox or AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). Regarding kerb weight, the Ignis weighs 860kg, which is supremely light. The formula is good, but does the public love it?
How popular is the Ignis?
We looked at the Lightstone Industry New Vehicle Sales report for September 2024 as a yardstick to gauge popularity. Suzuki sold 30 units of the Ignis in September alone. Considering that Suzuki sold a total of 4720 cars, their top three best sellers being the Baleno, Fronx and Ertiga, averaging just over 700 units for each vehicle. In comparison, the Ignis isn't popular; in fact, the Ignis is the least-sold car by Suzuki in South Africa. It is a pity because the Ignis arguably is a fashionable vehicle that is practical and enjoyable to enjoy daily.
