Fresh off the boat and christening the Tank brand's welcome into South Africa, the Tank 300 sets the tone for what GWM can offer in the offroad luxury space. We first saw the Tank 300 in Shanghai in 2023, and it's now on South African shores, which we had a chance to sample.

Fit for purpose but does so luxuriously, the Tank 300 is offroad performance with some hybrid tech thrown into the mix. You can also have the Tank 300 in full ICE form if you so wish. Looking at the hybrid Tank 300, the ICE component produces 180kW and 380Nm, and the electrical component produces 78kW and 268Nm. In total, you have 255kW and 648Nm sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed hydraulic automatic gearbox. If you want full ICE, you're looking at 162kW and 380Nm sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

An adequately potent package for the rough stuff, but how does the GWM Tank 300 handle servicing?

How often must you service a Tank 300?

The Tank 300 must be serviced every 12 months or 15 000km, whichever comes first. This forms part of 5 year /75 000km service plan and 7 year /200 000km warranty. If you opt for the hybrid variant, you have an additional 8 years /150 000km warranty on the battery. Now that you're armed with this info, you can search AutoTrader for the latest used and new offerings and sell your car, too.
